The golden statue of the 'great
deliverer' King Billy in Market Place, Hull commemorated the glorious
revolution of 1688. The victory of the protestant Dutch prince, William
of Orange, over England's Catholic King, James II had a great impact on
the way Britain is governed today. Raised in 1734, Hull's statue to King
Billy now sits in state over ornate Victorian public conveniences. |
