| Born in Beverley, East Yorkshire in
1957, Michael Robson started drawing and painting at an early age, with
his first pictures being of birds and animals and entered his first exhibition
when he was just 15 years old. Michael Robson then moved onto African wildlife,
through the influence of David Shepherd, whom he later met and exhibited
with in 1994. Michael Robson was further inspired during the 1980’s
by Steven Dews, the marine artist, who encouraged him to turn professional.
In 1989, Michael Robson set up his own business,
specialising in equestrian and horse racing scenes, some of which have
been reproduced in sporting books. This genre of pictures is still painted
by him today alongside his other main interests still life and dogs.
