			Roger Davies' reputation for great detail and realism in his paintings put him at the top of the field of marine artists working today. A typical Victorian gaff-rigged cutter called Marigold. She has the straight stem, long bowsprit and overhanging counter so characteristic of cruising racers of the 1890's. She was designed by Charles Nicholson and built by Camper and Nicholson in 1892. Her waterline length was 47.5 feet, her overall length 59 feet. She is still with us, beautifully and authentically restored.
